The Agriculture Loan Unit of Jamuna Bank PLC plays a vital role in supporting rural development, enhancing agricultural productivity, and contributing to the achievement of agricultural credit targets prescribed by Bangladesh Bank. The Bank’s agricultural financing initiatives are designed to support the entire agricultural value chain, covering both crop and non-crop sectors. Through a diversified portfolio of agricultural loan products, Jamuna Bank aims to facilitate increased production, strengthen food security, improve rural livelihoods, and promote sustainable growth within the agricultural sector.
Crop Cultivation Sectors
  • Food Crops: Short-term crop financing for staple crops such as paddy, wheat, potato, and maize.
  • Cash Crops: Financing facilities for commercial cultivation of jute, cotton, sugarcane, and tobacco.
  • Oilseeds & Pulses: Loans for the cultivation of lentils (Mug, Masur, Kalai) and oilseed crops such as mustard, soybean, and peanut.
  • Crop Sector Focus: At least 55% of the total agricultural loan portfolio is targeted for disbursement to the crop sector.

  • Livestock Sector Focus: At least 20% of the total agricultural loan portfolio is targeted for disbursement to the livestock sector.
Fisheries (Inland & Marine)
  • Financing facilities for open and closed water fish culture, shrimp and prawn farming (including hatcheries), and the purchase of fishing boats and modern fishing equipment.
  • Fisheries Sector Focus: At least 13% of the total agricultural loan portfolio is targeted for disbursement to the fisheries sector.
Agricultural Machinery & Farm Implements
  • Term financing for the acquisition of power tillers, tractors, combine harvesters, shallow and deep tube-wells, irrigation equipment, and other agricultural machinery.
  • Agricultural Equipment Sector Focus: At least 2% of the total agricultural loan portfolio is targeted for disbursement to this sector.
Storage & Preservation
  • Working capital and term financing facilities for establishing, operating, and maintaining cold storage facilities for fruits, vegetables, and other perishable agricultural products to minimize post-harvest losses and ensure efficient preservation.
Other Agricultural Loan Products
  • Salt Production: Financing support for salt cultivation and processing activities.
  • Mushroom Culture: Credit facilities for commercial mushroom cultivation and related activities.
  • Nursery and Horticulture: Financing for nursery development, horticultural farming, and floriculture projects.
  • Crop Warehouse and Marketing: Support for storage, preservation, transportation, and marketing of agricultural produce.
  • Poverty Alleviation Activities: Financing initiatives aimed at income generation, self-employment, and socio-economic development of rural communities.
